The pilot expands to 28 institutions, 42 relationships

该笔记目前仅提供英文版本。

The sample more than doubles in this update: 15 new institutions join the 13 already tracked, bringing the pilot to 28 institutions and 42 documented vendor relationships. Every row below is sourced from an official press release or reputable trade press, and every claim was independently checked against its source before being added.

The headline finding: it's still 100%

Every one of the 15 new institutions has at least one confirmed relationship with OpenAI and/or Anthropic. The pilot-wide figure — 100% of tracked institutions confirmed on OpenAI and/or Anthropic — holds exactly as it did at 13 institutions. Growing the sample by more than double didn't move that number at all, which is itself a data point about how concentrated this market already is.

A few relationships worth calling out

Block Inc. (Square) shipped a ChatGPT app and a Claude plugin in the same announcement — merchants get discovered and take orders through both ecosystems at once, with no exclusivity. Robinhood and Interactive Brokers both moved into agentic trading in 2026, with Robinhood's own support documentation confirming both Claude and ChatGPT as supported clients for its MCP-based trading tools.

On the insurance side, State Farm and Liberty Mutual both went further than internal tooling: Liberty Mutual shipped the first carrier-backed conversational auto-insurance quoting flow built directly inside ChatGPT, live in seven states at launch. That's a foundation model sitting directly in a regulated financial product's customer-facing quoting flow — exactly the kind of dependency this index exists to track.

Blackstone gets its own row for the first time, distinct from the existing Goldman Sachs entry that already references Anthropic's enterprise AI joint venture. Blackstone is a ~$300M anchor investor in that same venture — but the sourcing (Anthropic's own announcement) is explicit that the money is tied to embedding Claude across Blackstone's portfolio companies, not just a passive stake. That distinction is exactly why we kept Apollo Global Management out of this pass despite also being named as a financial backer: Apollo's involvement reads as capital only, with no equivalent commitment to deploy the model itself — the same bar that kept Fidelity Investments off the list in an earlier pass for being "just an investor" in Anthropic.

Citizens Financial Group is the one entry that's a genuine three-way tie: GitHub Copilot for roughly half its engineering org, plus an internal generative-AI portal where employees can choose among OpenAI, Anthropic, or Microsoft. That's the multi-vendor case the family-not-vendor-name methodology is built to handle — three logos on one portal doesn't mean three independent points of failure if the underlying model choice concentrates anyway.

What didn't make the cut

A long list of major names turned up nothing citable this pass — most large regional banks (Fifth Third, KeyCorp, M&T, Huntington, Comerica, Zions), most P&C insurers beyond State Farm and Liberty Mutual, and most alternative asset managers beyond Blackstone. Charles Schwab remains excluded: it shipped a generative-AI feature in May 2026, but no source — including its own press release — names the underlying model vendor. See the full data table for every sourced row, and the methodology for exactly what counts as evidence.
